Mixy on the left, the Burchells/hartmans hybrid, with Boomerang in front of Snake Mare
Two foals back left with adults Fingers, Mamba, Dots and Wanda
Snake mare with foal Ziggy
Saw my boy in the timestamps so had to go see. Nice to see the Oddballs still together π₯° Also Mamba has joined Fingers herd!!! #NamibiaCam
Warthog with piglets at the Kalahari cam this morning
Friday has started off with modding and seeing warthog piglets so itβs already a wonderful day so far #kalahari #NamibiaCam #warthogpiglets
Gnu and calves at the Etosha cam this morning.
A good day always starts with Gnu and calves π₯° #gnu #namibiacam #etosha
Burchells mare βFax Errorβ with new born foal.
New Burchells foal! Fax Error has had a baby π₯° #NamibiaCam
Pregnant gnus at NC mean hopefully some gnu calves! #NamibiaCam
The juvenile ostrich chicks are causing chaos on #NamibiaCam and I keep getting distracted π₯
A screenshot from the NamibiaCam Etosha Cam. It is very green from the rain. The goose family are on the left, and the monitor lizard can be seen on the right.
This morning zooming on OC I caught the goose family shoo-ing away a monitor lizard. These interactions make me feel honoured to have this chance. Itβs all thanks to #NamibiaCam πππ
Various people in the Namibia Cam YouTube chat wishing everyone a happy new year.
The first animal of 2026 was a spotted thick-knee. #NamibiaCam
Oryx using horns to scratch while sitting on the ground, head at an absurd angle. There's another oryx back left, chilling.
Oryx done scratching and curled up for a nap like a cat, if a cat had long horns sticking up. Second oryx still in the same position.
If cats had horns... #NamibiaCam
Screenshot of a giraffe who just took a drink, his tongue out and curled and legs still spread out. The waterhole is half covered in dry grass and various debris the wind blew in. Temperature is 24.8Β°C, no wind and no rain.
Silly guy π #NamibiaCam
Two giraffes standing very close to the cam, covering the entire left side of the screen, though you can vaguely see there are multiple more behind them. The shadow of the camera poles with the solar cell and transmitter on the right shows that there are three giraffes investigating it at the same time - the two in front and another long neck from the back or side. Also on the right, in the background, one giraffe is leaving and another is standing where the dry grass starts: Timestamp: 2025-06-07 11:04:42
Giraffes know that a big advantage of height is being able to stick your nose into everything π #NamibiaCam
Also important: they usually go at it face first π #NamibiaCam
A gnu rolling in mud, legs flailing comically and hooves splayed
Ah yes, the majestic wildebeest π€£ #NamibiaCam
Last night, a mountain zebra managed to roll fully over (not something that adults can normally do) with the help of a few massive farts π #NamibiaCam
Four oryx lying around the big dead branch and one standing where the grass starts and looking off into the horizon. The only resting oryx facing the camera has one back leg propped up on the flat remnant of a salt block.
Some very relaxed ante-loafs today! That one with one leg on the remnant of a saltblock is absolutely sending me though π€£ #NamibiaCam
Remember when a Martian dust devil cleaned a Mars rover's solar panels? Here's an Earthly dust devil doing its thing over a waterhole in Namibia... rover optional. #NamibDesert #NamibiaCam #weather
youtu.be/d_HZ8Tpc1Ek?...
And again this morning! The horns are back in town π
Also note the adorable young curly on the right :)
#NamibiaCam
A huge herd of oryx crowded around the waterhole. In front there are four youngsters (two still have smooth horns, unsure about the other two because only their backs are visible) checking out the cam and whatever's growing under it. The background grass looks dry. Timestamp: 2025-05-17 10:43:12
ORYXCAM HAD ORYX AGAIN WOOOOO π #NamibiaCam
Two owls in a small round artificial waterhole with an island in the middle. The front one is standing and looking right, the back one is partially submerged and seems to be melting into the water. It's nighttime.
lmao #NamibiaCam has not one, but TWO wet owls π
A lone, male African elephant approaches a watering hole in Etosha National Park, its large ears flared slightly as it walks on the dry, grassy terrain towards the clear blue water.
Literally crying with happiness watching this handsome guy on #namibiacam.
Two rhinoceroses, one slightly larger than the other, stand facing each other at the edge of a dark body of water. Their grey, wrinkled hides are illuminated by a light source, likely artificial, as the scene appears to be at night. The ground around the water's edge is covered in light-colored rocks and pebbles, transitioning to darker, less defined terrain in the background. The water reflects the shapes of the rhinos and the surrounding rocks. In the upper right corner of the image, white text reads "2025-05-13 20:57:17" and "Okaukuejo - Etosha National Park". In the bottom right corner, a small red icon of a person is followed by the number "122".
These buddies in Elosha National Park keeping me company while I work today via Okaukuejo Waterhole #NamibiaCam. I'm absolutely in love.
Two oryx near the waterhole, one drinking from the overflow and another approaching. The grass in the back has turned pale.
Wooooo oryxcam finally had oryx again, felt like an ETERNITY #NamibiaCam
Not kidding btw, they're LOUD little guys π
Careful with the volume, especially since bsky amplifies it. There's a buffer, the howling starts a few seconds after the drinking ends. #NamibiaCam
Gnus all around the waterhole, including at front salt. There are four brown little calves visible, the one at the front looking in the direction of the camera. They already have tiny horn nubs. Timestamp: 2025-04-18 12:11:43
Gnu calf reaching out and almost touching noses with an adult.
Gnu calf standing in front of the camera while the adults lick salt. The calf's neck already seems to be starting to darken. Horn nubs are a couple centimeters long, barely the tips.
Gnu calf just under the camera, looking away from it. Also about to bump into an adult's butt.
One of my yearly wishes came true - gnu herd with calves at cam! π₯° #NamibiaCam
Better view. Extremely curious about 1) what science is someone doing, 2) where and how far do oryx go π #NamibiaCam
Oryx with an almost oryx-coloured tracking collar drinking from the waterhole. Many more oryx all around. The grass is still lush and green, but with a little whitish cast on top, possibly blooming.
Oryx with a tracking collar drinking from the overflow. One of the several background oryx seems to have a bent horn.
Huh, oryx with a tracking collar, this is new #NamibiaCam
Waterhole at night, weird automatic filter making the light look orange. A giraffe head with glowing eyes is peeking in from the upper right corner, just under the time and date. Nothing except the head and part of the neck is visible. Timestamp reads 2024-04-12 02:55:04
The best entrance a giraffe ever made π€£ #NamibiaCam
Screenshot of the waterhole area in evening light. The sky is heavy with clouds and the background is very very green with new grass. There are some distant car lights in the petrified dunes on the horizon. Behind the back centre saltblock, there's a lone oryx, crouching to leave his territorial poop pile. Timestamp: 2025-04-07 19:20:48
The only oryx at oryxcam today lol #NamibiaCam
Side view of an oryx with his left horn curling backwards, almost in a full circle. A bit like a ram's horn. His right horn is normal.
Third unique curly-horned oryx seen at cam! This one is a male. #NamibiaCam
