I've been thinking of that post about the "extended universe" of that stupid ai "actress" & how they're trying to monetize the pathology of celebrity without having to involve celebrities; FB slop monetizing "water cooler moments" w/o needing them to really happen...
also, a #narrativedisorder angle: contrast this grim picture with the decades of media showing us totally unrealistic projections of what it's like to live in the US, from the NYC apartments of FRIENDS to idk the suburbia of TO ALL THE BOYS I LOVED BEFORE to any small-biz romcom...
Nations & politics divide us. There's so many different frames where we see the regressers & de-civilizers, where the backwards-walkers act.
To root-strike requires a correction to the #Infomocracy #NarrativeDisorder that so accurses us, that seeks to rot away reason, truth, hope, & human spirit.

It’s what @older.bsky.social calls #NarrativeDisorder, this need to turn every occurrence into something that fits a story. We discount the random and the arbitrary because those things make us even more uncomfortable than the grim, the cynical, the depressing.
