Fully sold out mobile planetarium sessions this afternoon to close #NationalAstronomyWeek #ChasingtheMoon. 4.5 hrs of back to back sessions using multiple presenters to survive!!
Great reaction from all those attending and so many Sun and Moon posters whisked off to bedroom walls all over Bath.
Jupiter from 5 Feb showing detail in the North and South Equatorial belts, with numerous white spots and trailing wakes. Just above the North Equatorial Belt (North is up in the picture) is one of the storms with a darker wake behind.
Just processed 4 90s videos of Jupiter from 05 February taken with C925. Each video was processed in AstroSurface, then derotated and combined in WinJupos, then colour balanced, sharpened using deconvolution and a bit of curves transformation for saturation. #astrophotography #nationalastronomyweek
Beautiful photograph for #nationalastronomyweek . I can spot Mars and Orion, can you?
Photograph of a lawn with three telescopes on it and a pair of binoculars
Last night we ran an #AstronomyOutreach session in our garden so people from our village could come along to look at the Moon and planets through 3 different telescopes + my 15x70 binoculars. A great way to celebrate #NationalAstronomyWeek & the sky stayed clear for us 😄
An exciting line up is happening soon! 😲
From the 20th February, the 7 planets will be visible simultaneously in the night sky! 🌌
We've scaled the solar system into metres so you can have a go walking it yourself. 🚶♀️

Great photo of today's National Astronomy Week theme: Jupiter! #nationalastronomyweek #lookup
A child looks through the eyepiece of a telescope, a look of deep concentration on her face.
A crowd of people looking up at the sky and crowding around some telescopes.
Blown away by the residents of Portobello! 200+ came out for pop-up astronomy last night & the heroic members of @astronomyedinburgh.bsky.social stayed out for hours to let them peer through their telescopes and celebrate #NationalAstronomyWeek. 🧪🔭

Evening of Day 6 of #NationalAstronomyWeek and a visit to 1ˢᵗ Peasedown St John Scout Group with the mobile planetarium and telescopes.

Showing my son Jupiter, Mars, the Orion Nebula, and the stupidly bright moon with the telescope (Celestron C6) I bought to view Halley's Comet.

A cropped in view of the top of the Liver Building in Liverpool. Above the building is a clear blue sky, with a waxing gibbous Moon in view at the centre of the image.
Swapping Edinburgh for Liverpool today this #NationalAstronomyWeek. Not so much of a #planetaryparade this time of day…but maybe a potential title parade coming this May! #YNWA #LFC 😉 🔴
Jupiter with moons Io (closer to planet) and Europa. North is up, and the new North Tropical Belt storm is visible towards the left of the planet
A picture of Jupiter from 20.15 tonight (day 5 of #NationalAstronomyWeek). Only processed one video so far. C9.25 🔭 at f10, 90s video, best 5% of frames stacked in AstroSurface. The new NTB storm is clearly visible at the upper left. #astrophotography
Clear night tonight for #nationalastronomyweek.
A view to the South east showing Mars, Jupiter and the Moon
And here is the view to the South East! Go outside and behold this beautiful planetary parade, complete with a gorgeous half moon, and some lovely stars to boot. 🤗 🔭

Send me your photos - I love seeing the sky from your back gardens!
A view on the night sky with the planets Jupiter, the moon, Venus and Saturn marked on.
🥳 It's Day 5 of #NationalAstronomyWeek and most of the UK is cloud free, so you all have no excuse! Go outside and #DoLookUp. 🔭🧪
This is the view from my home in Portobello Edinburgh 🏴, looking South West! 🤩

A newly discovered #asteroid due to pass close to the Earth in 2032 has been hitting the headlines ☄️
As part of #NationalAstronomyWeek, Dr Shyam Balaji (kingsnmes.bksy.social) explores the science behind the story.

The Moon has left Venus far behind. But what's this other bright dot it's heading toward? #chasingthemoon for #nationalastronomyweek

#1 son wanted to know if there were any planets out today, so we took his telescope to find out! I’m nearly confident we saw #Mars #Venus & #Jupiter, with great views of the craters of the #Moon Lovely to #LookUp & see so much! #NationalAstronomyWeek #Astronomy
In an unexpected twist of fate, Edinburgh's rain clouds have miraculously cleared to show me this! And I've just realised that it's extra pleasing that tonight we have a half-moon halfway between Jupiter and Venus! 🤓

A sky map showing where the moon will be, each night during National Astronomy week, relative to the planets Saturn, Venus, Jupiter and Mars. The constellations of Orion and Pegasus are also marked. Underneath the sky map there are nine panels showing how the moon changes from a crescent to a very almost full moon over the course of the 9day "week".
If you're unsure where to look, here is the #NationalAstronomyWeek guide to the night sky from 1st-9th Feb.

And🙏 to @synchroma.com & @astromikemerri.bsky.social for the 2nd & 3rd Feb images!
Four pictures of the night sky on Jan 31st, Feb 1st, 2nd and 3rd showing the bright spot of Venus and the moon moving from below it on the 31st and 1st, to above it on the 2nd and 3rd. Images thanks to @synchroma.com for the 2nd Feb and @astromikemerri.bsky.social for the 3rd Fed
It's Day 4 of #NationalAstronomyWeek and it's raining in Edinburgh😠 Tonight it's the turn of the South West, Wales and the Midlands for clear(ish) skies. Do send me see your photos of the moon so I can add it to the timeline. Tonight you'll find it half way between Jupiter and Venus! 🔭
Beautiful photo of Venus setting in New Zealand, followed by the Moon. Notice how this view compares to we see in the UK. The Moon is the same phase, but seen the other way up. It's further from the Sun than Venus, just like we see it. Saturn is lost to the Sun's dying light.
