National Galleries Acquire Glasgow Girl’s “Bacchanale” for International Women’s Day To mark International Women’s Day, the National Galleries of Scotland has announced a significant acquisition: a painting by Scottish artist Olive Carleton Smyth (1882─1949). The newly purchased artwork, titled Bacchanale, celebrates this important "Glasgow Girl" artist and enriches the representation of women artists within Scotland’s national collection. Bacchanale is now on public display as part of the free exhibition, The Glasgow Girls, at the National Galleries Scotland: National, where it can be viewed until 8 June 2025.

National Galleries Scotland acquires Olive Carleton Smyth’s Bacchanale for Glasgow Girls display in Edinburgh until 8 Jun 2025, celebrating International Women's Day.
