Text of e.e.cummings poem

"anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn’t he danced his did.

"Women and men(both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn’t they reaped their same
sun moon stars rain

"children guessed(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more

"when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone’s any was all to her

"someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
(sleep wake hope and then)they
said their nevers they slept their dream

"stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)

"one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was

"all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.

"Women and men(both dong and ding)
summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
sun moon stars rain"

go on then. summat for #nationalpoetryday. could be the last shot for a while of been intimate with someone tonight, so there's this. my work as late is a bleak output of my experiences in pubs and life at 39 in general, but best believe i'm writing my thoughts of intimacy all the time.

I'm recording music later, in a freezing, leaking shed
I've got a broken rib and I've got a very broken head
At least I am not spending time wishing I was dead
But I'd give you both my feet if I could be tucked up in bed

What lips my lips have kissed, and where, and why,
I have forgotten, and what arms have lain Under my head till morning; but the rain Is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh Upon the glass and listen for reply, And in my heart there stirs a quiet pain For unremembered lads that not again Will turn to me at midnight with a cry.
Thus in the winter stands the lonely tree, Nor knows what birds have vanished one by
one,
Yet knows its boughs more silent than before:
I cannot say what loves have come and gone, I only know that summer sang in me A little while, that in me sings no more.

Poem by Gabriel Rosenstock

It was like a miniature of some sculpture by Calder
Your cactus in the kitchen.
It had signs of your nursing On one broken limb -
A splint!
I never saw such kindness (nor suppose I ever will) to a prickly thing
Your love poured out in that room And everything burst into bloom.

Inspired by @darach.bsky.social to share two of my favourite poems for #nationalpoetryday
The second one is fiendishly hard to find online but is by Irish poet Gabriel Rosenstock.
Saw it years ago on the London Underground and was immediately captivated.

Pass me, my Darling
Another bag of gochujang
Shrimp crackers.

Their ammoniacal flavor,
While offensive to you,
Is the only thing -
Other than you -
That I crave.
