An inspiring day of #NatureRestorationFund projects all making a difference for nature and delivering real benefits for nature and Scotland’s future. Hope is in short supply at the moment but today illustrates the huge potential for nature restoration to deliver resilience, health and prosperity.
Delighted to be at the #NatureRestorationFund conference today hearing about the fantastic projects that have been funded and that are making real progress in halting the loss of biodiversity and building Scotland’s resilience. Inspiring and so badly needed.
This week, we kicked off Dragonflies on the Bog habitat restoration work at our project’s NTS Glencoe locations with Stag Infrastructure and National Trust for Scotland. #dragonfliesonthebog

Great to be working with the @thebotanics.bsky.social & have the small cow-wheat translocation project at #LochArkaig Pine Forest profiled in this article about the Scottish Plant Recovery Project buff.ly/6teNXXu Thanks #NatureRestorationFund!
The Shiant Islands show what biosecurity can achieve. After rat eradication, ground-nesting seabirds like Storm Petrels, now on incredible winter migration, are thriving again. Ongoing checks of boats, gear and supplies are vital to protect this hard-won recovery. #NatureRestorationFund
The team from Highland Access are making great progress controlling Rhododendron on steep, rope-access sites.
They’ve been working since December, using techniques like stem injection with promising results.

With the Christmas season here it reminded us of a biosecurity story. Christmas Island lost its native rat in the 1900s after invasive ship-borne rats arrived carrying disease. Rodent biosecurity checks are important to protect our seabird islands and all their native species. #NatureRestorationFund
Manx Shearwaters spend the winter roaming the South Atlantic, but one of their biggest threats is back home at their breeding sites. Invasive mammals can devastate colonies & that's why it's still important to continue biosecurity throughout winter. #NatureRestorationFund
Our detection dog Reid has been helping check for rats in cargo going to Bass Rock for lighthouse restoration for @nlb-uk.bsky.social. These checks are important to help protect the large Northern Gannet colony on the island from invasive predators. #NatureRestorationFund @naturescot.bsky.social
Learning how to set up tunnels for incursion response.
It was great to have such a good turnout for our biosecurity and incursion training at our Edinburgh hub last month where we learnt how to best protect our islands from invasive non-native predators. A huge thanks to our vital biosecurity volunteers #NatureRestorationFund @naturescot.bsky.social
We're thrilled to have received funding from Scottish Government's #NatureRestorationFund for
🦌 upland deer fence removal
🌺 invasive species eradication
🌳 restoring hedgerows & planting in-field trees at #GlenFinglas Estate.

The Scottish Government’s decision to invest £65M in nature and habitats has had an incredible impact 🎉
Today, an interim report has been released on the #NatureRestorationFund, which is making a positive difference for landscapes and communities. We hope this commitment to nature continues.
Today sees Scottish Government 1st evaluation of #NatureRestorationFund. Crucial to nature restoration in Scotland, its investment supports habitat & species restoration across Scotland. It's only the start but it powerfully shows how nature can recover given investment. www.gov.scot/publications...
Two remaining courses are available for the volunteer training on 23rd-27th July and 15th-17th August.

Nature restoration is a fundamental pathway to a sustainable future. #ScottishGovernment investment in #NatureRestorationFund is vital. Small wins today = massive progress in future. www.gov.scot/news/milesto...

💪 Heroic team efforts this week to get the last of our #NatureRestorationFund riparian action zones fenced off.
🌳 These fences will keep livestock back from the Argaty Burn, keeping the water clean, banks stable and allowing our newly planted trees to grow.
To quote Rachel Reeves the #naturerestorationfund will help nature away from new developments so nature doesn’t interfere with growth & progress. Great idea for 1 of the most nature depleted countries on earth. I’m sure the wildlife will appreciate new homes miles away @teamlabouruk.bsky.social
It’s been an exciting year at RSPB Scotland's Baron's Haugh nature reserve. Major work has reconnected the River Clyde with its floodplain.
