But what about behaviour (that set us off on this course to begin with)? Well, perhaps unsurprisingly at this point, we were unable to replicate previously observed behavioural phenotypes. #behaviour #neuroimmunolgy #negativeresults
Ever failed to replicate a widely accepted knockout mouse phenotype? You're not alone.
I can finally share our surprising null and negative findings on the complement system receptor C3aR1 in the brain: doi.org/10.1093/brai...

🚨 How publication bias warps scientific progress?
🤔What if negative results held the key to major breakthroughs?

Oh, this is a nice grant call! I applaud 👏 Dutch healthcare research agency ZonMw for this. #NegativeResults are also results and we do not #publish them often. Wasting #animals on unpublished (unpublishable?) experiments is just not right.

📊 Challenges of Culture-Negative Infections Even with thioglycolate broth, many tests came back negative. This highlights the need for combined molecular and culture methods to improve detection rates (Tarabichi Y, et al. [2]).

I spoke about "excellent" science, the different value we give to research, depending on the results, and how we may all benefit if we were to publish #negativeresults

#Data repositories, #workshops and alternative journals allow scientists to share and discuss #NegativeResults, which could help to solve the #reproducibility crisis and give #machinelearning a boost. #scholarlypublishing www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Why research should embrace the publication of #NegativeResults
Quality should never be compromised, for any reason, as it can lead to devastating results. #compromise #quality #negativeresults
