Detroit is launching one of the largest guaranteed cash programs for expectant mothers in the country. Under Michigan State University’s Rx Kids initiative, every pregnant person in Detroit will receive $1,500 during pregnancy, followed by $500 per month for at least six months after birth. There are no income requirements, and families can use the money for essentials like rent, utilities, food, diapers, formula, transportation, and medical care.
