🌎 Black-vented oriole (Icterus wagleri) The black-vented oriole is a species of New World blackbird found in Central America and Mexico. Adults are uniformly black on the head, back, wings, and tail, with a rich orange-yellow breast and belly. The young birds are dull brownish above and yellow below at first, later with black on the throat. They inhabit dry forested areas and open wooded edges of mountain foothills. Black-vented orioles are typically seen in pairs and are known for their distinctive song, which is a series of loud, clear whistles.
