ππ Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) The Bluethroat is a small songbird with a striking blue throat, especially in males during breeding season. Females have a duller brown throat. They have a rufous patch on their flanks and a distinctive, rufous-based tail. Found in a variety of wetland habitats across Europe and Asia, including marshes, bogs, and fens. They are migratory, breeding in the north and wintering in southern Europe, Africa, and Asia. Bluethroats are insectivores, foraging for insects on the ground or in low vegetation.
