Indivisible Stanislaus would like to thank the many stakeholders who helped make No Kings II a success on Saturday, October 18th. No Kings II was a peaceful, well-organized event that drew strong visibility at the McHenry and Briggsmore intersection in Modesto. Throughout the day, community members stopped by, drove past, or gathered near local businesses to see what was happening, ensuring our message rang clear: America has never had, and never will have, a dictator or king. We extend our gratitude to the organizations and volunteers who co-hosted this event with us, including the Modesto Progressive Democrats, Central Valley Democratic Club, Stanislaus County Democratic Central Committee, and 50501. Your collaboration and dedication were essential to the event’s success. Special thanks also go to the Modesto Progressive Democrats, Central Valley Democratic Club, and NAACP Stanislaus/Modesto for leading efforts in support of Yes on 50. Your recognition of the urgency to counter the Republican power grab of the House of Representatives by red states is deeply appreciated. On November 4th, your commitment will help deliver a resounding victory at the ballot box. We also thank our speakers — Astrid Zuniga, President of UDW; Elijah Coleman of CVBIPOCC; Marjorie Sturdy of the Modesto Progressive Democrats; Jaron Brandon, candidate for California’s 4th State Senate District; and Michael Masuda, candidate for California’s 5th Congressional District — for powerfully articulating why protecting our democracy remains central to the work being done across our community, from union organizing and public service to activism and elected office.
