These individuals are living in exile and desperately trying to reach the English coast, no matter the cost or the deployment of police forces on site to stop them. The daily mission of these volunteers is to provide assistance to people living in extreme precarity and to prevent the worst from happening — shipwrecks at sea. From night patrols to emergency calls and commemorations, they take us into their daily lives and their reality: one of solidarity and mutual aid. But on December 14, 2022, a distress call from the sea will once again upend their routine. This screening will be followed by a Q and A and discussion with Director, Victor Desmettre and an activist from the French-British border about the ongoing situation. Admission is free. Diese Menschen leben im Exil und versuchen verzweifelt, die englische Küste zu erreichen, ungeachtet der Kosten oder des Einsatzes von Polizeikräften vor Ort, die sie daran hindern wollen. Die tägliche Aufgabe dieser Freiwilligen besteht darin, Menschen in extremer Notlage zu helfen und das Schlimmste zu verhindern – Schiffbrüche auf See. Von nächtlichen Patrouillen über Notrufe bis hin zu Gedenkfeiern nehmen sie uns mit in ihren Alltag und ihre Realität: eine Realität der Solidarität und gegenseitigen Hilfe. Doch am 14. Dezember 2022 wird ein Notruf vom Meer ihre Routine erneut auf den Kopf stellen. Im Anschluss an die Vorführung findet eine Fragerunde und Diskussion mit dem Regisseur Victor Desmettre und einem Aktivisten aus dem französisch-britischen Grenzgebiet über die aktuelle Situation statt. Refugees live in the surrounding hilltops in informal camp structures, all with the aim of crossing soon. Abou Bakar Sidibé, from Mali, is simultaneously protagonist and director of LES SAUTEURS - after months of waiting and unsuccessful attemps of crossing, he starts filming his daily life at the border. Regular attemps to cross, but also an everyday mostly characterized by resilience and patience; by jam sessions, playing football, political discussions, gathering food, hiding from the cops, and dreams of Europe - hope, despair and fear as a constant companion. Nach über 14 Monaten des Wartens und der gescheiterten Versuche beginnt Abou, ihre Lebensrealität mit der Kamera zu begleiten. Neben den regelmäßigen "Sprüngen" ist ihr Alltag vor allem vom Ausharren geprägt: Die Männer musizieren, spielen Fußball, machen Politik, durchstreifen die Dörfer nach Essbarem, flüchten immer wieder vor der Polizei und träumen von Europa – Hoffnung, Verzweiflung und Angst als tägliche Begleiter.
