* respects the `noindex` preference if set on your account
* respects #noindex or #nobots if those are in your bio
* sends a unique user-agent ("Zeitgeist/1.0") if you want to block the client entirely.

Blocking the author won't help because it's based on who is using the client. Author said they'd add noindex support, so you can add that flag and your posts should no longer show up.

I've noticed that, since I stopped adding hash tags to my posts, far fewer bots try to follow me. Still, I block about 98% of new follows, almost entirely for bot-like activity.
