ECDC just updated "Handbook on tuberculosis #laboratory #diagnostic methods in EU". The update includes a new chapter on “The diagnosis of #nontuberculous #mycobacteria (NTM)”, recognising these increasing and difficult-to-treat mycobacteria. Read on in capter 11 from page 126:

Clinical Efficacy of Serum Antiglycopeptidolipid Core IgA Antibody Test for Screening #Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Pulmonary Disease in #Bronchiectasis - CHEST journal.chestnet.org/article/S001...
New nationwide study including all patients with #nontuberculous #mycobacteria (NTM) isolates in #Denmark over 32 years (n=4,123), investigating age, sex and geographical differences in NTM incidence.
31 yrs nationwide data, #migrants have a higher, but stable, burden of #nontuberculous #mycobacteria compared with Danish-born. The higher rates likely reflect that more specimens are examined for TB. Microbiologically classified definite NTM disease is not substantially more common among migrants.
(A) #nontuberculous #mycobacteria by disease #localization and (B) #pulmonary only (B). IRs for positive NTM culture increased (0.8%/year; p<0.001), driven mainly by pulmonary NTM (2.3%/year; p<0.001), whereas extrapulmonary (−1.7%/year; p<0.001) and disseminated NTM (−9.5%/year; p<0.001) decreased
#Nontuberculous #mycobacteria (NTM) are emerging. To examine clinical #significance, species #distribution, and temporal #trends in #Denmark, we performed a nationwide study of all persons with NTM 1991-2022 (n=4,123), categorized as having definite disease, possible disease, or isolation.
