Today I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. I'm grateful for this beautiful country I live in.

I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains. Of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts, and flooding rains. I love her far horizons, I love her jewel sea. Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me.

But my hope is that the date will be changed. And that hearts and attitudes will be changed also.
In the meantime, I'll live in and love this glorious land, and thank our Indigenous people for sharing it with us. Sorry people are being massive dicks about it.

Anyway. This day is so emotional for many people, now though, we really need to stand together and tell the truth. Wishing healing and sending love Xx

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, January 26 marks the beginning of colonisation, dispossession, and ongoing injustices.
Celebrating on this date overlooks the truth of our history and perpetuates the harm felt by First Nations people.
