But a blood red crystal formation with certain ruins of an ancient civilization held within, frozen intime, piqued her interest.

Eventually she had to make the journey to Ul'dah in search of wares she couldn't find at the markets in Drybone, and since she is barred from entering Gridania she had little choice.
The city of gold and commerce disagreed with her from the start. It's too detached from nature.
