Ilya was at his peak between 20 and 25. Out of the abusive family, stable well paying job, bunch of friends, very physically active, started a really solid relationship, generally very happy.
Things change after he is possessed and turn from not ideal to horrible to dead or kinda shit.

Tbh a mixture of both depending on the circumstances.
Friendship or romantic love, his main desire is to be wanted and loved despite his mistakes. Even if it means sacrificing all other connections, he just wants one person to make him feel like he's worth love and affection.
