New post about calculating the thatch-mat OM value based on the difference between #OM246 and SOM test results.
I've got some new test results showing a 45% decrease in total organic material when OM2 samples are sieved prior to burning. #OM246
🎙️ Just published a new episode of ATC Office Hours: Autumn #OM246 review: 7 year timeline with Chris Tritabaugh. Have a listen:
Here's how I'd find how much sand and N to use, rather than relying on hearsay. #ClipVol #OM246

If the organic matter doesn't get produced in the first place, we don't need to be as worried about breaking it down, removing it, or diluting it. #TurfHacks #OM246

When I prepare an #OM246 report for a facility doing this testing for the first time, I include interpretation advice that I first wrote about in this blog post.
This one has brand new commentary provided by @johnkaminski.me. At least that sure sounds like him 😉. #OM246 #MLSN
🎙️ Just published a new #ATC2x episode: Living plant material (and thatch) are part of #OM246 too. Show page with all the links here:
In this new ATC blog post about #OM246, I point out some of the desirable living OM in the soil, and suggest that trying to get the OM2 as low as possible is not how I'd approach this.
Andrew McDaniel joined me for a new Cart Rides episode to discuss winter soil testing, #OM246, sand topdressing, #TurfGvX, and more.
New #ATC2x episode about pendulum swings in N supply and sand topdressing. Are #ClipVol, #TurfGvX, and #OM246 anything different? I suggest it will take some decades to find out, but I think they are. Also, industry veterans, historical N rates, & more #TurfHacks.

Join Chris Tritabaugh and I for the fourth year in a row on ATC Office Hours as we review the autumn #OM246 results. Live on December 31 in most time zones, starting at UTC 13:00.
This question comes up sometimes, about the maximum level of organic material that one can tolerate in the soil. The best way to answer this is to find out for yourself with #OM246 testing. Here are my general answers.
New on the ATC website, a comprehensive update to the #OM246 calculator. Includes precise calculation of sand requirement to achieve a selected organic matter level at any rootzone depth, and conversions for topdressing rate amounts in common units.

I haven't shared this one for a while. This is what I call the "killer feature" of #OM246 testing. Being able to calculate the OM accumulation rate allows you to find the exact sand topdressing requirement. #TurfHacks vimeo.com/559391502?sh...
