Karen Adam MSP Celebrating One Parent Families Scotland 80th Anniversary at Scottish Parliament Founded in 1944 as the 'Scottish Council for the Unmarried Mother and her Child,' One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS) is now celebrating 80 years of empowering and supporting single-parent families across the nation. Today, OPFS reaches over 8,000 parents and children annually, providing vital services and advocating for lasting change. In this debate, Karen Adam MSP brings forward a motion highlighting the achievements of OPFS over eight decades, while also inviting fellow MSPs across the political spectrum to address the urgent issues that remain. Topics include the work needed to combat stigma and poverty facing single parent families in Scotland whilst recognising the remarkable legacy and future goals of OPFS.
