On the agenda is an #OaklandSlowStreets update, a mid-cycle city budget discussion, and bike/walk grant applications review.

#OaklandSlowStreets segments are shown in Google Maps by turning on the "traffic" layer, by not by default or by turning on the "Bicycling" layer. 🤷♂️

Today at Brookdale and Best: the neighborhood provides its own #OaklandSlowStreets barrier.
There’s been a lot of media attention for, though mixed reactions to, the #OaklandSlowStreets initiative. But Oakland has yet to deactivate walk signal buttons, even in business districts & transit hubs. My hot take is that this is even more important than Slow Streets.
Over the weekend WOBO volunteers fanned our to post “No Through Traffic” fliers on streets recently added to the City’s Oakland Slow Streets initiative. Here, 32nd St at Magnolia. #keepitslow #oaklandslowstreets #sharethepavement @bikeeastbay @OakDOT

Ooh those bike ramps sound sick, brb heading out to Sunnyhills! Seriously though, if someone driving through this school zone can’t see a wooden ramp in the street, that’s pretty good evidence they’re going too fast. #OaklandSlowStreets
26th Ave has had the #OaklandSlowStreets treatment for many years; hard posts on 1/2 the roadway width at several locations. The new slow streets should have concrete jersey barriers installed immediately in a similar fashion; people will just run over flimsy paper signs.
#OaklandSlowStreets on Dover, 52nd to Alcatraz, is already seeing some socially distant bike/walk traffic this Friday afternoon.

@RedwoodCity As the SIP drags on, the ability to move about our city safely on bike or foot will become more important than ever. I hope that we can follow the excellent examples of San Francisco and Oakland! #OaklandSlowStreets https://x.com/kerbyside/status/1249495429852491777
My favorite moment from #OaklandSlowStreets so far was the kid laying down on his electric skateboard zipping headfirst down the middle of 42nd St & going “ow, ow, ow” every time he ran over a center line reflector. This scene made possible by fresh asphalt & open streets.
The first 4 #OaklandSlowStreets planned for through-traffic restrictions this weekend, just announced:
* West St from West Grand to 14th St
* Plymouth St from 78th Ave to 104th Ave
* 42nd St from Adeline to Broadway
* E 16th St from Foothill Blvd to Fruitvale Ave
