Participants at #OceanDecade24 shaped a set of 10 draft white papers, which identify future priorities for the #OceanDecade to generate science-based solutions on biodiversity loss, climate change, food security, a sustainable ocean economy, and pollution.
The third and final day of #OceanDecade24 focused on the human dimensions of #ocean science.
The meeting produced its Barcelona Statement, which has priorities on:
• knowledge generation
• infrastructure needs
• inclusion of all knowledge systems

Day 1, Session 1 at the #OceanDecade24 conference: HIFMB colleague Jan-Claas Dajka gave a talk on the urgent need to implement science-based policy targets for #marinebiodiversity. #Barcelona
Statements at the opening of #OceanDecade24 stressed the role of science as both a prerequisite and a "unifying tool" for #sustdev, while parallel sessions revolved around UN Ocean Decade Challenges on pollution, biodiversity and climate change.
