A green bell pepper hangs (precariously close to the ground) from its plant. The plant is green stalks and green leaves with a few off-white closed up blooms that we hope will turn into more peppers. The dirt is redish brown and desperately dry. So much so you can see it cracking.
Two summers in a row?!
Perhaps we know how to grow bell peppers now!

This piece was a major breakthrough for me when I made it. It's a piece that years late i am still proud of. I can see where I've grown, but this Octopus Gardening still gets oos and aahs at every event I go to.

A new green leaf and a tiny white flower amongst some dead brown leaves and wet dirt suggest we might get a strawberry or two!
A green rectangle planter with wet brown dirt and a clump of green spearmint in the middle. It is our hope that spearmint will help deter mosquitoes, black flies, and rodents at Campbell’s Cove Campground in Prince Edward Island, Canada. (It must stay in pots and planters as mint is very invasive.)
Many small green spade (sort of) shaped leaves of lemon balm. It is our hope that lemon balm will help keep mosquitoes and black flies at bay on days the wind doesn't.

Now you see it, now you don't: a Hummingbird hawkmoth in the #OctopusGarden. Three years ago, this space was tarmacked over, but thanks to a #GrowBackGreener grant from @londonmayor.bsky.social and #CGS from @lb-southwark.bsky.social we #depaved and brought nature to this polluted street corner.

It's possible that in August there will be a watermelon growing on this plant. When the temperature is much warmer, and the plant is much bigger and stronger, it will get moved to the garden at Campbell’s Cove Campground in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
Some contents of the #OctopusGarden greenhouse got upgraded into bigger pots.
We have learned something every year of our gardening, and have never regretted time spent in the dirt, even if some plants don't make it.
