Text: Faculty at UNO's cutting-edge research on offender decision-making focuses on the interplay between individual, social, and environmental influences. Through rigorous quantitative, qualitative, and experimental designs, they study how people make decisions in the context of: Peer influence and social networks; Biological predispositions; Exposure to adversity; Identity and morality; Personal experiences. Current projects focus on understanding the causes and consequences of criminal behavior through the lens of biosocial criminology and piloting new ways to study how choices unfold over time, including the selection of social contexts. Students will have the opportunity to: Receive high-quality training in research methods; Learn and apply advanced criminological theory; Test research questions and apply findings in real-world settings; Aid in academic writing and publishing.
