In #OpenQuest Thursday last night, the adventure beyond the Empire's borders continues to be weird and wonderful. Rescuing a dead General's corpse from the City of the Dead, with half the party frozen with terror, was suitably hair-raising. Then off-world to the Twilight City of the Moon people. 1/

Last night's game of #OpenQuest Thursday really was a refresher, being a perfect marriage of rules and roleplaying. Everyone was invested and punching above the stats on their character sheet. It's interesting how the game plays now, after five years, they are reaching the higher end of power. 1/

Coming in Qtr 1 for #OpenQuest, Swords of the Savage North, a barbarian swords and sorcery setting and adventure pack. This is the title page art by @jonnygray.bsky.social , which kind of sets the tone for the rest of the book 😉 Happy Headtaking 2025!
I would also say #OpenQuest is a great paring down of the BRP system seen in Call of Cthulhu and RuneQuest, although my love for it has been eclipsed by #Dragonbane, which is in a similar space but a little simpler yet.
I have neglected my #OpenQuest Patreon Fantastic Odysseys last month. I hope an apology, a picture of a cute dog under a Christmas tree (a variant of the dog ate my homework), and an assurance of a DOUBLE POST month, will get things back on track 😀

Never that into HeroQuest (or #RuneQuest, I prefer #OpenQuest or my own DragonRune for #Glorantha), but I just adore Babeester Gor, and this is just a friggin awesome image of her guarding the Halls of the Dead.
I got the collected softcover version that came out during the RQ Renaissance in the early 90s. It was my reference RQ when I did early versions of #OpenQuest. My play version of RQ was this RQ3 GW hardcover, augmented by bits from the Advanced Book. That kinda cemented my approach to D100 😍

I took a softly-softly approach in #OpenQuest. I inherited equipment lists, with prices, from Mongoose Legend, added my own take on the Wealth Skill, so that when players got fed up of bean counting we quietly shuffled over to using the Wealth Skill :)
