These maps from the war diary of 7RTR show the progress of the British Army forces for Operation Compass, moving so as to strike at the Italian camps from the desert. I added some red arrows to make it easier to see. #OperationCompass

December 8 1940: The British launched Operation Compass from Egypt, aiming to push back Italian troops into Libya. The forces moved through the gap between Italian camps Nibeiwa and Sofafi without being detected. It didn't end well for the Italians. #worldwar2 #history #operationcompass
