I have created the ultimate lap kitty. In response to Xena having to spend much time in the gulag, (while I sweet talk Mittens), I have been napping with and cuddling Xena more. She jumps up on my lap whenever I sit now.

Mittens Update
She pokes her head in to eat if I remain in sight and coax her. She does this once or twice in the evening. I pick up the outside bowls at 2:00pm. Since it’s hot, they want to eat later, anyway.
