The earliest pow I've experienced in Oregon. #OregonHC
We all got catfished! #OregonHC
To explore the #OlympicNP is an experience like no other. From high alpine peaks to rainforests and rugged shorelines it is an absolute gem, even when compared to all our other national parks. And oddly, often more accessible to #OregonHC than people in Washington due to a chance of geography.
Finally lived out my little dream of sleeping overnight in the McKenzie Pass Observatory (accessible by bicycle), and was rewarded with a dreamy sunrise. #OregonHC
Spring ushers in a narrow window of lush scenery to Oregon’s desert canyons. For about a month, the wet earth and steady sun feeds a diverse ecosystem, with grass at the foundation and bears and wolves at the top of the food pyramid.#OregonHC #PNW
Our poetry, music and art-themed backpacking trip was a great success. We bonded over the challenges and laughed around the campfire at night. Every person was a gem that I would happily travel with again.#OregonHC
My happy place in Oregon. #OregonHC
Getting stoked....leaving on a 3 day winter camping trip up to Paradise on Rainier and just checked the webcam there this morning! It should be nice on our move in day tomorrow, looks a little rougher through the weekend, but we are prepared. #OregonHC #Rainier #Paradise #WinterCamping
That one time I told everyone we were attempting the Tatoosh Traverse and we ended up just randomly traversing an old abandoned trail that was definitely not the Tatoosh Traverse, as I learned later. #OregonHC
After 8 years, I returned to the scene of the crime and attempted the Mystery Trail in the Gorge. It’s a complete mess - choked by slide alder and entangled with deadwood from burnt trees. It’s going to be 30 years before this is going to be practical again, and maybe longer.

Super wide image of snow with single set of snowshoe tracks.
Five years ago I headed up to Paradise on Mt. Rainier and wondered into the clouds. Paradise had been closed for over two weeks due to so much fresh snow and avalanches on the road. I was first in the gate and saw only one person on this adventure. #solitude #OregonHC
Living large but feeling small. I’m excited about the new social media options that are taking root in 2025 that don’t require you to surrender your content to anyone else. Join me on Bluesky and very soon, Flashes, for photo and video sharing.

Already removed the generic OHC and went with #OregonHiker, #OregonClimber or #OregonHC
For anyone following the Oregon Hikers and Climbers feed. I removed the very generic #OHC because it overlapped with too many other random topics using it. So tag your posts with any of these #OregonHC #OregonHiker #OregonClimber if you want them seen by the OHC community.
Agree, lots of collisions. #OregonHikers #OregonClimbers #OregonHC. I think all 3 of those are unique enough. Thanks for the feedback.
I’m not sure if OHC is the best tag to use, as there are other groups also using it. Maybe #OregonHC?
