🌍🌏 Bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus) The Bearded vulture, also known as the Lammergeier or Ossifrage, is a large bird of prey with a distinctive appearance. It has a dark brown body and a white head with a black, beard-like ruff of feathers around its neck. This species is found in mountainous regions of Eurasia and Africa. Bearded vultures are known for their unique feeding habits, as they primarily consume bones. They drop large bones from great heights to crack them open and access the marrow inside.
