I truly hope we have the documentation and the luck to discover the root issue is a batch of poorly made axles. That would be expensive but easy to resolve. Bad maintenance is harder to resolve and might require replacing all. A bad design is a decade long problem. #OttLRT

This is a great piece; we should be making our transit infra places of beauty. Consider #OttLRT, transit in a G7 capital; while there is some art, it’s an afterthought at best; the stations are boring, offering no sense of place/identity; a lost opportunity to showcase who we are
I lived in YVR when the skytrain opened for expo 86; IIR was driverless then and a marvel. Every time I visit YVR, the trains are flawless, fast, reliable and affordable. Why we can’t replicate this is beyond me (sobs in #OttLRT)

Vast majority of #OttLRT ph2 expansion East orphans stations at Highway off ramps where any density is limited and walkable distance to transit would force residence to live surrounded by noise and pollution from highway; we purposely took a step in the wrong direction because it was cheap 2/

A deal that works for Ottawa transit riders (and taxpayers) is one where the City continues to run the service (schedules, fares) and the Province underwrites the upgrades and station expansions (in consultation with the City). #ottLRT #ottcity
After a short—by #OttLRT standards—wait of 6 min for my train, I get on my train.
At Bayview Stn, I get off and wait 5 min for a Line 2 train.
At South Keys, I get off and wait 9 min for a Line 4 train.

I finally arrive at Lyon Station.
I look for the elevator, given I have luggage. There are two, but one is out of order, and the other just left.
I look for the escalator, but despite #OttLRT being overbuilt, there’s only an up escalator.
So I haul my luggage down two long flights of stairs.
