O'Sullivan's ,thoughtful' book misrepresents physical conditions as psychosomatic (see her chapter on Long Covid and Lyme Disease) - why would anyone think that she should be the one to explain' whether a diagnosis of ADHD or autism is helpful to anyone or not? From what l've heard people say, a diagnosis like that can be live-changing for them, much beyond access to services or organised support. I'd rather listen to them than to her.

Having been pronounced on, with his usual belligerent ignorance, by Nigel Farage, overdiagnosis has become an obsession of the Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice, who now holds forth about why some children with special educational needs shouldn't be entitled to dedicated school transport, and claims that the sight of kids with sensory issues wearing ear defenders at school is "insane"
