Senior 2: Owls 0 Ballyclare 3 On a sunny Wednesday evening, Roughfort was the venue for the Women’s Senior 2 fixture between Owls and Ballyclare. Our friends at Owl needing a win to jump out of the relegation zone in their last fixture of the season. Heather Carson opened the scoring for Ballyclare Ballyclare took the game to Owls from pushback and midway through the first quarter took the lead with a fine penalty corner strike by Captain Heather Carson, giving the 'keeper little chance.

Intermediate Cup: South Antrim 8 Owls 0 Semi Final We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Intermediate Cup Semi Final between South Antrim and Owls at Friends School on Saturday afternoon. South Antrim showed why they are run away winners of Senior 2 as they progressed to the final in some style against an Owls side who minds appeared to be focused on their ongoing relegation battle.

Junior 4: Owls 2XI 0 Ballymena 3XI 0 We caught up with the Junior 4 clash between Owls 2XI and Ballymena 3XI on Wednesday evening at Roughfort. The soft evening sunlight was perfect for photography as well as hockey though it did get a bit nippy, in both cases as the sun went down atround half time. Ballymean created a few early chances It was a lively game as both sides gave it a go, which resulted in plenty of pictures.

Senior 2: Owls 1 Bangor 1 Our second hockey match at Roughfort on Saturday was the Senior 2 clash between Owls and Bangor. With the Owls battling to get out of the relegation zone this game was a lot more tense and measured than my earlier goal bonanza. In fact there was no score until the final quarter.

Junior 4: Owls 2XI 4 Coleraine 3XI 3 We caught up with our friends at Owls HC for their 2XI game against Coleraine 3XI in Junior 4 at Roughfort early Saturday afternoon. Coleraine had the better of the first quarter with the Owls defence scrambling on a few occasions. However there was no score as we went into Q2.

Intermediate Cup: Owls 2 Saintfield 1 Quarter Final We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Intermediate Cup Quarter Final between Owls and Saintfield on Saturday afternoon at Roughfort. The teams battled out a competitive first half though Saintfield looked to have a definite edge on chances created as Rebecca McCallion kept the Owls defence busy on a few occasions. Rebecca McCallion had a lively game for Saintfield The young Owls side settled more into the game as the half progressed and a couple of runs from Eva McGoldrick-Mathers kept Saintfield's keeper on her toes.

Junior Plate: Owls 2XI 1 Belfast Harlequins 5XI 0 We caught up with the Ulster Hockey junior Plate match between Owls 2Xi and Belfast Harlequins 5XI under the Friday night lights at Roughfort. After a delayed start the teams battled out a lively game. Owls looked to be enjoying he bulk of possession and the opened the scoring right at the end of Q1 as Jessica Hunter tapped in a pulled back cross for a 1 - 0 lead.

Senior 2: Owls 0 Rainey 2 We caught up with the Senior 2 clash between Owls and Rainey at Roughfort early Saturday afternoon. Owls struggles at the bottom of Senior 2 continue but, with a game in hand and only three points separating the bottom three, a couple of wins could change their season fairly quickly. The teams battled out a tight first quarter. On the basis of this game they are certainly capable of getting those wins as they were competitive for the bulk of this game though their struggles to get the ball into the met continue.
