Endlich fertig (na gut fast fertig) übersiedelt und schon paar Mal im Brettspielraum Yella Yella gewesen um diversen #paradice Events beizuwohnen und schon viele schöne und lustige Spiele ausprobiert. Sehr schön gleichgesinnte #brettspiel süchtige in der Nähe zu haben 😌
That’s useful because it’s my first roll-out of my Choose Your Adventure stuff since 2019.
I did some one hour stuff at #PARADICE last week but this’ll be the first time with banner & free choice of games.
I’m also giving a talk. So setting up time and time to scout the stage will be useful.

Different conventions require different types of preparation. Though I was “demonstrating” 1-hour games last weekend at #PARADICE, this weekend I’m resurrecting my old “Choose Your Adventure” where the players get to choose the genres. So I need to have more sets of pregens ready.

Final thoughts.
So I wrote to a random Expo-type convention whilst they were well into their preparation. I didn’t expect much from it. Tied myself in knots in the run-up when they were so busy organising it that they couldn’t keep me in the loop.
I didn’t get what I wanted.

I forgot the * on the previous post. I suspect the GAME system was created for Airecon to handle board game booking etc. They don’t seem to use it for TTRPGs. (I’ll see in a couple of weeks.)
Though booking train tickets early usually requires specific trains….

After my Dinosaur Game I played in a game of Honey Heist - booked via the Glorious Airecon* Management Engine. (GAME) system.
It was fun. There’s more “game” to bite into here than I expected. I think some people only look at the skin of the game and deliberately go gonzo. Fun.

One of Dinosaurs is Missing - again! No-one signed up - again! A REALLY good tannoy shout out attracted no-one - again! I grabbed a mum and her son as they left the demo table next to me. With the creativity of youth he used the “change the plot direction” option to derail the plot.

I got two passing players for my D6 hack game. The organiser brought over two more but because I was in the promise of 3 more I turned them away. Guess what? Those 3 let me down! But I had a player return from yesterday - his Pathfinder game not getting enough players.

Steampunk dinosaurs again 12 noon.
I typed up announcements for the tannoy . Demo zone runner photographed them and sent them to the tannoy.

Arrived over half an hour early. Was let in to wait in the coffee bar out of the rain. There‘s already a queue!
Facilities sufficient for a Leisure Centre are insufficient for a leisure centre plus game con. (The usual swimming classes etc still seem to be on.)

My cheap hotel was a faded one near the Worthing beachfront. A LOT of cons are near the sea. (Why?) I rarely visit it.
My bus to and from the con runs along the seafront. Wet and rainy as it is, the coastal waves were invigorating. I wanted to take a photo for you but my bus came.

I ran my Steampunk scenario with two players. Still fun.
One of them came back for the Star Wars one but we couldn’t scrounge up a second player so I had to cancel it.
I didn’t make enough connections during the day to run my evening game so decided to find my hotel early.

I haven‘t got involved in anything yet. I saw a guy browsing the RPGzone and explained my offerings. But I’ll have to queue for lunch in a few minutes - cafe is too small for the event - if I’m going to be ready for my 12:30 monster of the week.

I have to admit that part of why I do this mad visiting of lots of different conventions is I enjoy the travelling.
And the London Underground remains a miracle.
This train past London to Worthing, though, is pretty rickety. I can barely type!

Doors open at 11:00am. I’ve booked into a game of Monster of the Week on the G.A.M.E. System from 12:30-14:30. I’m not the first to sign up so it looks like it should run.
My slot at the demo table runs from 15:00 to 17:00.
I’ve offered an evening game from 18:30-22:00.

Last week at #DUDLEYBUGBALL I used WarHorn. This week at #PARADICE I’m using the G.A.M.E. System. UKGE has its own booking system. Garricons use elbow grease and spreadsheets. Many conventions use Ticketing systems to book games.
How many different systems are there, I wonder?
