Ahead of my talk today at #SIVA25, I have packaged up some #PERUSEbeforeYouInfuse posters, for anyone convinced by what I'm saying, who then wants to use the check.

The right things happen more often if you make them easy. Providing posters (and Blu Tack) is very much in the spirit of the talk.

Error with TIVA is potentially more common, because multiple errors are not yet prevented by the equipment.

Poster in the wild!

East Kent have become the most recent Trust to use #PERUSEbeforeYouInfuse in order to make their TIVA a little safer.

If you use TIVA, you are likely to encounter error. Checking your work in a systematic way might make some errors less likely.

Everyone loves a checklist! This talk has also illistrated why we need one. There are still quite a few ways to get TIVA wrong.

There are two #SIVA24 posters downstairs talking about it too.

I'd like to see pumps that make some of these errors impossible, until then...

8/ Longer-term, I hope we see iterative changes in equipment design, to prevent the more common errors currently associated with TIVA.

In the meantime, we MUST check our working and identify errors before pressing go.

If you are using TIVA, consider using #PERUSEbeforeYouInfuse.

I did promise a TIVA safety thread at 1000 followers. At the point where I said it, it seemed a long way away, but there now seems to be a lot more of us on here!
