This watercolor to acrylic painting shows a blue sky from dusk to night time and a tall forest shielding a tower with a turret and a tall skinny building. The woods are in the front with lighter yellowish-greens in the front and darker leafy trees the higher you go up the tree. The tower is a yellow cream color, something like yellow ochre and white with a dark colored turret. The tall building is a light pink color with a light blue roof. The tall building I imagined to be apartments with three rows of windows across. The painting is a third panel of three, the other two showing the 180 degree view (360 total) of Rome. The evening we went up to get there, the bus was packed and we were standing like sausages. That was the time the police happened to get on the bus and Lizzy one of the students with us got fined and removed from the bus because she forgot her pass. It was quite dramatic b/c she somewhat argued with the police but didn’t speak Italian. In the end it was all fine (no pun intended). We were rewarded with this gorgeous view and the colors of Rome and its gorgeous lighting. You got to the top and it was so beautiful you were stunned into silence.
I painted this in Rome in 2021. I painted and drew in July that year during the pandemic. This is panel three of three which started at dusk and continued until dark. I often would start in watercolors before moving to acrylic.
