A large group of volunteers are standing smiling on a stage
A fun group of organisers. Some of them are wearing silly hats or glasses and some are making silly faces
Three organisers all dressed up - two are wearing traditional German dress (the woman wears a dirndl and the man wears lederhosen)
A major highlight of my year was hosting #PalAss24 here in wee Erlangen 🇩🇪 Massive thanks again to our volunteer team extraordinaire, to the amazing lead organisers @emmadnn.bsky.social & @taphonomist.bsky.social
& to everyone else involved! And you’re all welcome back any time!
A picture of the poster's prize winners standing on the stage with former vice-president Uwe Balthasar
All posters concurring for #PalAss24 were high-level ones and it wasn't easy to select just three of them.
Congratulations to the winners of PalAss poster's prize:
Amy Shipley, Isaak Eijkelboom, and Erick Miguel Díaz de León Muñoz
The winners of #PalAss24 president's prize standing on the stage together with PalAss former president Prof. Rachel Wood.

My group and I had a great time at the @thepalass.bsky.social Annual Meeting at FAU Erlangen last week... just about recovered now.
Here are the highlights of the conference from a DeepBio@Leeds perspective...

A 47 million year old stag beetle from Messel, Germany
Although #PalAss24 was a whirlwind, the highlight for me was going to Grube Messel, an iconic 47 million year old German Lagerstätte.
Of all the hundreds of stunning fossils we saw, this stag beetle took my breath away. With preserved colour as well! Stunning. 🪲❤️
#PalAss24 at FAU Erlangen is a wrap! Congratulations to all our fantastic presenters, trivia winners, and dance party enthusiasts!
Huge thanks to the chairs for their leadership and support @emmadnn.bsky.social @taphonomist.bsky.social @rachelwarnock.bsky.social
I stand on the stage and present my research to the audience in the conference hall.
My laptop's screen and the class in the background at the deep-time paleogeography workshop.
Annual dinner hall, where attendees are sitting at their tables and the president of PalAss, Prof. Rachel Wood, is giving a speech.
A Christmas market in Erlangen, with crowd walking among shops.
#PalAss24 is over after interesting presentations, cool workshops & inspiring conversations. It was a special meeting for me, having given an invited talk at the first PalAss meeting in Germany, where my research journey began. Huge thanks to the organizers for an amazing event.
Twisted the rings on the Schöner Brunnen of the Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt before returning home to Warsaw, urban legend has it that if you can turn the rings in the fence three times, good luck will come your way for an entire year 🍀 #PalAss24
Congrats and thanks to all the organisers of #PalAss24 for a really excellent meeting!

Had an amazing time at #PalAss24: Awesome job by the organisers @rachelwarnock.bsky.social, @taphonomist.bsky.social and @emmadnn.bsky.social, as well as all volunteers! For #fossilfriday some lovely Jurassic chondrichthyans from Solnhofen I saw on the preconference fieldtrip
Wishing everyone who attended #PalAss24 a great journey home - safe travels everyone!
I had an absolutely brilliant time at PalAss.
There weren't enough minutes in the day and I would have loved to be in multiple places at once to see all the talks.
See you in Edinburgh and Portsmouth next year.

A shiny red train arriving at a station, with people waiting on the platform.
First train of the day returning from @thepalass.bsky.social #Palass24 conference in Erlangen, Germany to home in South Cambridgeshire, around 1065km. I'm estimating I'll be saving c 150 kg of carbon by taking the train instead of flying
Thank you

The first batch of After- #PalAss24 spam. My first conference and it was a huge success for me. Met a ton of new and cool people, and even the great Mike Benton, who signed my Copy of Dinosaur Behaviour and Vertebrate Paleontology. Stickers, Card sleeves and shirt by @velozee.bsky.social
Had a great time presenting my poster at #PalAss24 today. After so many promising interactions, I couldn't be happier about my first international meeting 🥹 Congratulations to the organizing committee for such an amazing event!
