For #FossilFriday, the Chicago #Archaeopteryx! This gorgeous animal includes not only nearly the entire skeleton, but also soft tissues! At #Paleofest, Jingmai O'Connor discussed soft tissues of the skull and the feeding habits of this animal, including a mobile tongue, basihyal, & oral papillae!

I wouldn't call it a "highlight" of #PaleoFest but basically being thrust into running one of the auctions (I have 0 experience or even affiliation with the Burpee Museum) was certainly a memorable experience.

Glad I could help and hope I didn't make a complete fool of myself, lol

Text: the Dawn of Animal Life: the Ediacara Biota. A suite of fossilized soft-bodied organisms collectively called the Ediacara Biota after Ediacara, SA. Globally distributed: a few important localities. Spam about 30 million years. Other text is covered by a person's head.

Attending tomorrow's PaleoFestivities? Prepare to meet TEX; genuinely one of the coolest critters I've had the pleasure of working with! Here's a pterygoid from "the Black Knight," a specimen that exemplifies our beast's capacity for violence

If you know me from before, it's most likely from my #BurpeeMuseum #PaleoFest posts from all of the interesting talks given that wonderful weekend each March. Though I have been on a few digs, I'm not a paleontologist, just a fan and supporter who appreciates all the hard work that they do.
