#PaleoMori day 31! Happy Halloween! Had a lot of fun with the challenge this year and I definitely feel like I improved a lot. I already can't wait for next year, but there's an entire year's worth of art to fill in inbetween. Here's to me being good about that. #paleoart #cretaceous #dinosaur

#PaleoMori day 29! The lesotho lizard. Someone remind me to read about the animals I'm not familiar with before drawing them. I somehow missed th e fact this is supposed to be beaked. #paleoart #Jurassic #dinosaur

#PaleoMori day 22! ♫ Bear dog, bear dog, alone in the world is a little bear dog. ♫ I tend to just not be very good at drawing living mammals, but these guys are just weird, man. #paleoart #miocene #mammal

#PaleoMori day 20! Here's a llama, there's a llama; talking to each other llama; short llama, long llama; this animal isn't closely related to llamas. I don't have a horse in the proboscis vs prehensile lip vs nose filter debate, but I do know which is easier to draw. #paleoart #pleistoscene #mammal

#PaleoMori day 19. Not to be confused with its fellow movie star procompsognathus, I went a bit old school with the stance and referenced Marsh's 1896 skeletal reconstruction. I based the colors off of something I saw in a book as a kid, but I couldn't tell you which one. #paleoart #dinosaur

#PaleoMori day 18!! My personal fav ankylosaur. Didn't have the energy to draw more, though. Still think it's pretty rad, though.

#PaleoMori day 16! Everyone's favorite hard head. Decided on a whim to make it a graphic novelish black and white ink style. Looked naked without any other color, though, so I added back in the rough sketch of the skeleton underneath.

#PaleoMori day 14!! Drew one of these last year and I knew I improved at digital art a lot but HOLY SHIT what a difference. In case it wasn't obvious, I based the coloration and patterning on the Walking With Dinosaurs interpretation.

#PaleoMori day 13! Everyone's favorite Brachiosaurus head, its the titan giraffe! Honestly almost skipped this one tonight on account of being tired, but then I realized I didn't have anything else to do tonight but shower and watch YouTube videos, so I decided to crack this out instead.

#PaleoMori day 12! The mother lizardess. Based the colors on that one "Looking At..." series book. I think that was the first book I ever accidentally stole from the library, now that I think about it. Don't think I have it anymore, though.

#PaleoMori day 10! Based the colors on a toy I have. I also definitely intended for the forest background to fade away at the top like that. Totally wasn't just more zoomed in the canvas than I thought.

#PaleoMori Days 8 and 9! When I realized I was gonna have to draw both of these beans in the same scene my first thought was them interacting a la one of the museum scenes from that oldfangled Eyewitness documentary series.

A painterly, anachronistic scene of a green river bank featuring, from top to bottom left to right, a grey with pink underside Moeritherium, a yellow with brown stripes saltasaurus, and a mostly green with heavily mixed in yellow and brown highlights Baryonyx. The Moeritherium and Saltasaurus are at the shore reaching in to drink from the river, while the Baryonyx floats through the foreground like a crocodile, mostly submerged.

#PaleoMori days 3,4, and 5! Gotta love when the days get away from ya. But, why else would I draw these three in the same scene? Wasn't planning on making this one line-less but it's probably my favorite of my line-less pieces, though. All two and a half of them. Including this one.

Denim blue apatosaurus with a dark brown underside, and dark blue stripes with thick light blue outlines standing from left to right, with its neck and face turning towards the left. The background is a flat brown, with a shadow underneath the apatosaurus. The signature, date, and title "Apatosaurus" is in the bottom right corner of the page.

#PaleoMori 2025 Day 2!! Probably should've finished my chemistry homework first, but my brain was fried after class, and this actually helped refresh it. Debating whether or not I'll get back on that homework, though.

A promotional poster for a personal art challenge called Paleoctober where an artist chooses to draw at least one prehistoric animal per day for the month of October according to a given list of animals. More specifically the poster is: A black ink sketch of an archaic, bipedal "kangaroo stance" reconstruction of an iguanodon skeleton on a brown background facing the user's left. Scrolling horizontally from the back of the skull to the top right corner of the image are the words "PALEOCTOBER 2025" The word "Paleoctober" has been slashed out with a red "x". In the negative space between the prompt list and rules the term "PaleoMori2025" has been scrawled in handwriting rather than clean text. Immediately below that is a list of prehistoric animals that read from left to right, top to bottom, with the left most listings following the shape of the iguanodon's spine. Starting from the base of the tail down to the just above the shortest neural spines is an identically formatted list of rules for the challenge. Both the list of animals and rules will be included in the alt text of the next image. To the bottom left of the skeleton is an A.P.A. style Figure description of the iguanodon that reads "Figure 1: "Tyrranosaurus" Obsolete Iguanodon skeleton reconstruction sketch erroneously labeled as a Tyrannosaur on Pixabay. (2025)" To the bottom left of the image, underneath the skeleton is an A.P.A. style citation that leads to the source of the original Iguanodon skeleton that reads, "(2025). So as it turns out, "Paleoctober" was taken. It's not that serious, but as it turns out @djigr.bsky.social of Chicken Wings fame has been running their own art challenge by that name since 2019. So, to avoid confusion, I'll be renaming my thingy to #PaleoMori. Everything else will be the same.
