Wilson's #PalmerRaids from 1919 got a sequel on #ThisDayInHistory in 1920, when about 6,000 suspected #anarchists, #communists, #socialists, and #IWW members were arrested and held in gaol without trial. Over 500 were subsequently deported with little to no #DueProcess of law.

Today in #LaborHistory 11/7/1919: 1st #RedScare or #PalmerRaids began, with 3,000 sent to #prison for #anarchism. . Over the next year, thousands of anarchists, communists, #union leaders were imprisoned, deported and killed. #EmmaGoldman and Alexander Berkman were among those who were deported.
On #ThisDayInHistory in 1919, timed to fit the second anniversary of the #RussianRevolution, the #PalmerRaids began in the US. #FBI and #police arrested over 6000 #anarchists & #socialists, deporting hundreds of them without #DueProcess. Such events are precedent for Trump's ICE.
I say that in jest, of course. Anyone familiar with our history as a country would have no difficulty recalling times when a court order to obey the law would have been very helpful. Amazing, in fact, the judiciary is standing strong against Trump!

On Jan 2nd, 1920: The second series of #PalmerRaids by the U.S. Justice Department ended with 3000+ people being arrested many without warrants, and many held without trial. They targeted those suspected of being 'radical leftists', 'communists', or 'anarchists'. Many immigrants were deported.
