"Publius Tutilius, son of Publius, enrolled in the Oufentine tribe, veteran, standard-bearer and Eagle-bearer of the V... legion, responsible for the veterans, received double rewards from the emperor. He was born in the consulate of Aulus Hirtius, son of Aulus, and of Gaius Vibius Pansa; he died in the consulate of Gaius Fufius Geminus and Lucius Rubellius Geminus. For himself and for his son Publius Atecinx (?) and for his daughter Deminca and for Andoblatos, son of Publius, and for Gnata, daughter of Publius, he arranged by will that it be done." This soldierand his family have Latinised Celtic names and were probably local Cisalpine Gauls. This tomb stele was found built into the medieval Porta Tosa and is missing its right edge.
Tutilius lived through the last turbulent days of the republic and died at the ripe old age of 72.
