2 bits of terrain on 3mm mdf bases

2 bits of terrain on 3mm mdf bases

What do you use for your bases?
I get asked a lot, so here is a thread covering why my go to is 3mm thick MDF. (about the width of a mini base)
It's cheap and readily available in various sized large sheets (Buy big, cut down for more savings)

A piece of model terrain with sculptamold rubble

A piece of model terrain with sculptamold rubble

Hobby Tip: Sculptamould/DIY Analog
Great for terrain. A mixture of paper pulp & plaster, it can be applied thicker then poly-filler, does not have the cracking issue & the fiber makes it robust.
Use it to build up/add uneven earth and rubble.

Rusty Wrought Iron.
A simple enough recipe, but a material that appears a lot in classic fantasy settings. Time to break out your torn bits of sponge!

A recipe for copper roof verdigris.
Much more detailed then the simple and quick one I wrote a while back.
Use this one if fidelity is more important that time.
As always I included a colour guide, near enough is good enough. :)

I like to do tutorial/recipes, see #PantmongerTutes
But my paint collection being so eclectic means matching to my colors would be a chore. I've GW, AP, Vallejo, P3, Kimera etc.
I want a full range from 1 for the ease, but that's a lot of $ to drop for tutes I make for the lols.

Everyone has their own personal spin on speed painting.
I'm not a fan of full black n white zens/slapchop, mainly because I don't like black drabbing up my hues. So I use a ambient mid tone in my Zen, and some dry brushing to finish.

Necromunda blue bases.
Ever wanted to make Necromunda bases like the old printed card that came in the original set in the 90s (I remember it well)
Then maybe this blow by blow recipe could help you.
