This is what #PassThePlan was all about. #NVLeg.
"Superintendents say the overall problem is that while the state did make progress in increasing K-12 education funding, it’s still not where it should be to meet the needs they are facing."
We look forward to working with Superintendent Wakefield to #PassThePlan for optimal funding while also putting #SchoolsOverStudios.
Annie is an exceptional educator and union leader whose advocacy is rooted in courage and conviction. She consistently champions issues that matter for students, members, and NSEA, from advancing #TimeFor20 and #PassThePlan, to fighting for PERS eligibility for ESPs throughout Nevada.
So, no cost-of-living increase and the district isn't picking up PERS?
So the Clark group negotiated a pay cut for their members. Yeesh. Maybe they can ask their buddy $2 Joe how such a thing could happen! #NVLeg #PassThePlan
It took 120 days, but we finally got Republican Assemblymember Gregory Koenig on the record urging his #NVLeg colleagues to #PassThePlan.
With nearly 120 days of urgent advocacy from Nevada educators to #PassThePlan to fully fund education, lawmakers chose to ignore the Commission on School Funding’s roadmap, leaving Nevada $604M short of where we need to be to stay on track. Instead, they settled for $2.
"'This week the #NVLeg passed the Governor’s Education Budget with only a $2 increase in per-pupil funding and tabled AJR1 to help #PassThePlan to fund public education,' @detcheverry4ed.bsky.social, President of the Nevada State Education Association, said in a statement."
The plan is dead. Long live the plan!

“See me after class, Governor” #PassThePlan
AB584 earns a big red “See Me After Class!” from educators. When we demanded Gov. Lombardo #PassThePlan to fully fund our schools, he dismissed us, saying we can no longer accept a lack of funding for poor school performance, and then offered a $2 increase to per pupil funding.
It is with serious concern for our schools and the students we teach and serve that we oppose SB500, the education funding bill. NSEA members warned the #NVLeg that a mere $2 increase in per-pupil base funding would be devastating to Nevada schools. Educators have implored lawmakers to #PassThePlan
Today may be the last good chance to tell lawmakers to #PassThePlan. Governor Lombardo's $2 budget and Blame bill both up in Assembly Ways. youtube.com/watch?v=QZw4... @nsea.bsky.social
The $2 Session...
The Senate has approved SB500, which increases K12 per pupil funding by just $2 next year. #PassThePlan
When educators across demanded Gov. Lombardo #PassThePlan to fully fund Nevada's public schools, he responded dismissively by saying, “We can no longer accept lack of funding as an excuse for chronic underperformance."
Instead of passing the plan, he gave educators his blueprint for blame. #NVLeg
The most effective action this body can take to lower class sizes would be to #PassThePlan to reach optimal education funding; However, the mechanisms used to address class size are also important, and we believe class size should be a mandatory subject of bargaining, regardless of funding levels.
To continue progress on educator retention, new funds are needed. That’s why we’ve said #PassThePlan. It’s a rainy day and Nevada is short $604M for this session.
Nevada is short 300M for the next biennium, and somehow, the #NVLeg's solution is to waste another $1.65B on Hollywood handouts?
While Hollywood gets a front-row seat in our state budget, public education needs $764M to stay on track or all progress from 2023 will be wiped away. #PassThePlan
Nevada's depressing economic outlook underscores exactly why Nevada lawmakers must #PassThePlan to fully fund our public schools and reject giveaways that divert public dollars to private interests like Hollywood. We can’t afford handouts to giant corporations. #HollywoodHandout
If these tax give aways benefit Nevada communities why are public schools funding on life support & the Cities of Reno & Sparks facing $24M and $12M deficits respectively? #PassThePlan #NVLeg
In addition to the shortfall projected for the Education Fund, the #NVLeg should move $764M from the Education Stabilization Account to the Education Fund. This is the most responsible budget action that could be taken, as those funds are intended for just this purpose. #PassThePlan
If this were a film, we might call it "Silence of the Scams" or perhaps even "Raging Bull."
Whatever the title, the plot remains the same: a massive, historic taxpayer giveaway happening at the worst possible time. #NVLeg #SchoolsOverStudios #PassThePlan
“We can’t afford giant tax credits to corporations...the biggest plot twist right now is that the state budgets’ education funding is only increasing by two dollars,” he said, urging lawmakers to pass the Commission on School Funding’s plan for education." #PassThePlan
"NSEA has strongly opposed the potential negative fiscal impact of both bills, arguing for lawmakers to prioritize critical funding that’s needed for Nevada schools..." #NVLeg #PassThePlan
Some folks in Carson City are more concerned with proximity to power than pushing power to act. If you're not willing to cross any red lines, maybe you're standing on the wrong side of them. #PassThePlan #NVLeg
The Economic Forum reduced their December projections by over $170M. Today’s depressing economic outlook underscores exactly why Nevada lawmakers must #PassThePlan to fully fund our public schools and reject giveaways that divert public dollars to private interests like Hollywood. #NVLeg
It’s a Rainy Day In Nevada...again. It will continue to be until the Legislature passes the plan.
In our ongoing effort to #PassThePlan, the #NVLeg must be prepared to use those reserves to maintain momentum and keep Nevada on track.
Since day one of the 83rd Session, NSEA has said #PassThePlan to fully fund public education. To do so, Nevada must commit to at least a $700 dollars per-pupil increase in each of the next two years, totaling just over $604 million dollars for the biennium to stay on track.
Our Pass The Plan: It's a Rainy Day In Nevada Press Conference is about to begin. #NVLeg #PassThePlan

With depressing news coming from the Economic Forum, we are worried that $2 Joe will become the IOU Governor. #NVLeg #PassThePlan
As we said after last year's report, Nevada's priorities are misguided. #NVLeg
Nevada is still around 47th in the nation in funding with the largest class sizes in the county.
Stadiums won't solve this issue.
#HollywoodHandouts won't solve this issue.
#PassThePlan *will* solve this issue.
