Orthocone fossil in limestone showing central siphuncle
GIANT orthocone fossil! ~60 cm long and 10 cm wide at widest point
What looks to me like a trilobite cross section
Love that Stockholm floors are often paved by these orthocone limestones some of which are huge!
And is that a trilobite I see before me?! ⚒️🧪

This was an unusual one in Doha - floor of a funny little old shopping mall called Souq Al Jabor. @pavementgeology.bsky.social I could use any advice you’ve got on this one, bit of a head scratcher! #urbangeology #pavementgeology #Doha

This weekends #urbangeology #pavementgeology sightings in Doha Souq metro station. (It’s a rather fancy metro station, and has some nice paintings too!) Carved travertine panels and grey marble pillars (apparently the marble came from Italy this time).

Small granite paving cobbles with a hand for scale. Each cobblestone is approximately 8 x 8 cm square, and contains large visible K-felspar and mica crystals of around 1cm.
Just some building stones from my own neighborhood in Doha today: polished limestone wall and granite paving cobbles. Not sure of the provenance of these, the limestone may be local, the granite definitely won’t be.
