The first recipient of our May #PeatNeeds is Victor Lecegui, who is studying the ecological drivers that affect microeukaryote communities in peatlands across the Iberian Peninsula. Victor will use the microgrant to buy a pair of waterproof boots and a hand lens for surveying vegetation plots.

The final recipient for our April round of #PeatNeeds is Vanessa Götz. Vanessa investigates how plant roots (e.g. Eriophorum vaginatum) interact with thawing permafrost soils in the Alaskan moist acidic tussock tundra and how these interactions influence carbon cycling. 1/2

Laura measures dissolved and ebullitive gases in rewetted peatlands in the UK and Sweden, and is also radiocarbon dating these gases. The #PeatNeeds microgrant will go towards field kit to wear during a field campaign this summer. 2/2
