Muriel's father was a sailor her mother passed away she was put up in a boarding house on old Yaquina Bay there sat a white lighthouse not too far from home abandoned several years ago once she and her friends roamed over to the tower and broke right in they were curious, wouldn't you be? they climbed up to the top a lovely view of town and sea on the way down they found a door with nothing inside it but a hole so deep there was no bottom at all and Muriel, full of desire to know, dropped her handkerchief as they left then went back in to retrieve it alone suddenly piercing screams chilled every friend right to the bone they ran back in but she was gone all that was left was a puddle of blood upon one stairstep near the top soaking into the absorbent wood she was never found but her ghost remains haunting the building to this very day and that, my friend, is the tale of the lighthouse of Yaquina Bay
I've been to this lighthouse several times - Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, Newport, Oregon, US. There really is a bloodstain on one of the steps. And it's not the first time I've written this tale.
