Could egg capsule laying sites be incorporated into a notion of essential fish habitat in a GIS model aimed at understanding ecological vulnerability? Could there be skates with plenty of food resources but vanishing laying habitats?

Does shape determine dispersal in a current? Does shape have a strong phylogenetic component, or is it functional, or just random? Shape is very consistent within a species and closely tracks female size. Does that indicate egg laying sites are particular to species?

I have recently been asked how to find questions, and I realized I have never really talked about why I am NEVER worried about running out of things to look at.

For example - kate egg cases are dropped above the sea floor and fall to the bottom. Does the shape govern how they land?

Could one paper really have a dissertation's worth of questions in it? For sure. When I started writing I thought papers were compact packages answering a question. Now I see them as tools to pick central issues while spewing lots of threads worthy of pursuit.
