Fly with long thin body, transparent wings and black and white legs

This phantom crane fly looked completely transparent as it drifted in and out of shadows; difficult to keep track of it as it went from plant to plant. Finally, I got lucky when I saw where it landed and was able to photograph it. Beautiful insect!

This photo shows an Eastern Phantom Crane Fly hanging from the underside of a yarrow leaf. The fly has a long, narrow, black body with thin white horizontal bands, and spindly black legs with white spots. Her wings are transparent black. I spotted this Eastern Phantom Crane Fly in our garden last May; she was on the underside of a yarrow leaf. I was thrilled to capture this photo because I rarely see these beauties in person.
