This square photo shows a close-up of a Klip Dagga flower blooming. The plant is 8 feet tall but still growing. The flower has dozens of long, narrow, orange petals that grow horizontally around the top of a large, spiny, spherical, green base approximately the size of a ping pong ball. Another stem grows upward through the center of the flower with another spiny base forming on it. Eventually, nature willing, there will be several blooms stacked on top of each other with a few inches of stem between each. The background of the photo shows sour cherry tree leaves. So happy my Klip Dagga is blooming. The plants are 8 feet tall and still growing. The backdrop is my neighbor's sour cherry tree.

This gorgeous praying mantis lives in our herb garden. They seem to gravitate towards us; this one arrived here by hitching a ride on my unsuspecting husband's shirt.

This square photo shows a close-up of an Anise Hyssop bloom. It is a vertical, spiky flower in various shades of purple. She is a medicinal and culinary herb in the mint family, and her serrated green leaves do indeed look like spearmint leaves. Anise Hyssop is a perennial in zones 3 through 8. In my zone 7b (USA) garden she usually grows 4 feet tall by 3 feet wide, and she is popular with pollinators including bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Photo ©Reese Amorosi for GlamorosiCooks.com
Our Anise Hyssop is blooming; the whole plant is covered in spiky purple flowers. Pollinators love her, as do I - I cannot imagine my garden without her.

This square photo is a closeup of Red Campion (Silene dioica) blooming in my garden. Despite the name the flowers are not red, they are pink. Each of the small blooms has 10 petals and a pale green center rimmed in white. There is a tiny ant on one of the petals. The background of the photo is filled with green leaves. This square photo shows a selection of colorful #Flowers; it is taken close up so that the blooms fill the entire frame. The main focus is a coral and pink #CactusZinnia. This variety is identifiable by the shaggy, curled and coiled petals. In the bottom-right corner of the photo an #EnvyZinnia is partially visible. This variety is noted for having pale green blooms. To me, the petals look like elongated hearts with the pointed part emanating from the flower's center. The pale pink and magenta blooms are #CutAndComeAgainZinnias from a mixed seed pack. There are several yellow flowers in the shot; they are #Coreopsis aka #Tickseed that self-seeded into the zinnia border. Photo ©Reese Amorosi GlamorosiCooks.com
This photo from my archives features a bouquet of brightly colored flowers. The assorted zinnias (Cactus, Envy, Cut and Come Again) were grown from seed; the yellow coreopsis self-seeded into the border.

This photo shows a Monarch Butterfly perched and feeding on milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa), and there is a Leafcutter bee flying in on the bottom-left side of the frame.
