For Akiva, her body hair as a Goddess is part of her visible humanity, a way you can differentiate her from the pure Gods. And for her, shaving that body hair is a visible sign of the transformation she must go through to achieve her dreams, ergo shedding her humanity to be human. It criticizes modern beauty standards and the beauty industry itself, a poetic example of the unachievable dream that we, even if naturally beautiful, are presented.
I find hair to be a fascinating part of character design, especially body hair. And I use body hair to tell a part of my story. When writing philosophical fiction you must consider every detail and every aspect of your characters.
