Group of bright yellow and yellow/orange Pierid butterflies clustered around a small area of damp river sand. Numerous individuals are in the air. A single yellow and black queen swallowtail butterfly is resting the right of the Pierids. All was imbibing mineral-rich fluids from the soil.
Puddle party! Wherever there are minerals in damp soil (also in feces, carrion, & other “yummy” stuff) you may find male #butterflies drinking their fill. Many #Phoebis species Family #Pieridae & a #Heraclides androgeus androgeus, queen #swallowtail #butterfly liked this “wet” sandy area. #Ecuador
