If you’re still having trouble getting used to iOS 18’s Photos app, this is how you solve it.

Scroll to the very bottom of Photos app and tap “Customise and reorder”, then choose only “Albums” and “Media types”.

You’re welcome.

This might be a hot take, but I don’t mind the updated Photos app on iOS 18.

Whenever I create a new album in the photos app on iOS 18, photos are added in wrong order chronologically. It doesn’t matter in which order I add the photos. Does anyone have the same issue? #ios18 #photosapp

Screenshot of an empty ‘People, Pets & Places’ section of Apple Photos App.

Dereliction.

You can’t remove this section from Photos. It’s a dead space.

The section that is of most use is an ‘extra’ scroll below this.

It’s like walking past derelict buildings.

Text from screenshot for Apple’s Photos App:

“Photos. Collections automatically organizes your library by topics like Recent Days, Trips, and People & Pets. And Pinned Collections gives you lightning-fast access to the collections or albums most important to you.”

Text from screenshot for Apple’s Photos App: “Photos. Collections automatically organizes your library by topics like Recent Days, Trips, and People & Pets. And Pinned Collections gives you lightning-fast access to the collections or albums most important to you.”

What the photos app actually does, is place a bunch of stuff ‘in front of’ what you actually want quick access to.

I’ve had to remove albums from my phone to stop Apple populating People, Places & Pets because there’s no other way to stop it.

It’s not for photography.
